Privacy & Security
We really do care
Online Security
We use the very latest security technology for your online purchases and all your details are encrypted to make sure your information is protected throughout the shopping process. So you don't need to pop a valium every time you buy from us.
Totally secure transaction processing
Bountee uses a company called Protx to process your credit or debit card payments. That's because we trust them to look after you properly and keep you safe. If you're interested, they provide Verisign-certified e-commerce payment and security services that are about as advanced as you can get. They store your information on a heavily encrypted database that is protected by multiple government approved firewalls. Basically, if Steve McQueen had been put in here, they would never have made The Great Escape. You won't find security better than this.
Address and card verification
To make sure you're who you say you are and not some sneaky imposter, we carry out address and card verification as part of our purchase process.
The address verification system needs you to correctly enter the address the payment card is registered to before you enter the card details. We also use CV2 card verification which requires you to enter the last 3 digits printed on the signature strip on the back of your card.
If you're a genuine and honest person, these little procedures shouldn't cause you any problems. As a further security hurdle for dishonest dirtbags, we may also call you to confirm your details over the phone. All these measures reduce the risk of fraud from stolen card numbers. So, if you're a fraudster, you'd better try elsewhere.
Your secret's safe with us
We understand that you're giving us some personal information that you don't want broadcast to the world. But don't worry. All data is strictly controlled by Bountee. We use this information to process your order and we promise never to give it to anyone else.
How we use your information
When you're buying your stuff, we need to know a few things about you, obviously. We ask for your name, email address, delivery address, telephone number, cardholder name, credit or debit card number, the card expiry date and the security code. Without this information you wouldn't get your stuff - or worse - we wouldn't get paid. Your phone number means we can get in contact with you if anything cocks up. And some countries actually require it for customs information - oh and the couriers may find it handy. In the event that we can be bothered running a promotion or competition, we'd need you name, address and email address so that we can tell you if you're the winner.
We may also take a look at where you go in our site to help us design it better. If you agree to us contacting you again, we may contact you to tell you about new clothing ranges, extra services or special offers. If you rather we didn't send you such interesting and useful information, click here and contact us.
How we protect your information
When you place an order on our site, all the information is encrypted at every stage of the shopping process. So you can rest assured it won't get into the hands of some unscrupulous ne'er-do-well. The UK Data Protection Legislation demands that we adhere to strict security procedures when it comes to the storage and disclosure of the information you give us - and prevent unauthorised access. So please don't be offended if we ask you to prove your identity before we disclose any sensitive information to you.
Yum, yum. Cookies.
These are little titbits of information that your web browser stores on your own hard drive. When you visit a site and it seems to recognise you, it's not because the company is hoarding lots of information about you. The truth is, it doesn't know anything about you, it just asks your computer if it has stored a cookie there from the last visit. A cookie will typically store things like your name, your inside leg measurement and the fact that you kinda liked that 'Chicken' T-shirt in extra large but decided not to buy it at that time. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies - but you can tell it never to accept them, if you wish. And you'll still be able to buy from our store.
No. We won't hawk your details to anyone else.
We personally hate spam. We'd like to see all spammers extradited to a country that still believes in flogging, thumb-screws and good old-fashioned disembowelling. So, in short, we won't sell, trade or rent your details to unscrupulous scallywags. We may in the future allow a trusted and honest institution to contact you, if we feel you may be interested in what they have to say. But if you want to make sure we never do that, you can remove all your email addresses from our database by contacting us here.
We may provide statistics of website usage to companies for some reason or other - but we assure you that this data would contain no information that would personally identify you.
We use other companies and individuals to help us provide you with such a tip-top service. They do stuff like fulfilling and delivering orders for us, processing credit card payments and generally making us look really good for doing next to nothing. They are all reputable people - we refuse to deal with schmucks or shysters. They have access to personal information to do what they need to do - but thanks to the UK's wonderful Data Protection Act, they can't use your information for any other purposes.
The last bit
So by using this website, you consent to Bountee collecting and using the information we've babbled on about. If we are ever so inclined to change our privacy policy, we'll tell you about it and amend this page to outline the new deal. We don't want to hide anything from you - and want you to know about what information we collect, how we use it and how we look after it.
Thanks for not falling asleep.
